Alfredo Häberli Design Development

Even with the first trials of the new 3D printing technology, it became clear that the diversity of line qualities and their overlapping will be the central theme. Thus, in all three designs, the contrast between subtle and precise and otherwise powerful and blurred lines is played. To achieve depth, the wool felt is used as the first color plane, so to speak as a background. On each of these two additional levels are created with lines that are either organic or geometric. The levels merge in color and, viewed from a distance, give a new color perception. All designs have been inspired by works by a wide variety of artists. The three designs harmonize in terms of color and design and form an interesting little collection in the still new and exciting 3D printing technology.

The spray-painted paintings by artist Sterling Ruby served as inspiration for Bent Lines. A simple element is repeated in different sizes and line strengths to create a living new whole. Flowing lines appear in Fluid Lines, seemingly in constant and calm motion. These are inspired by the soft brush strokes and colors of several works by Claude Monet. The Version Grid is all about the perception of color in multiple layers, similar to works by Mark Rothko. The three levels here consist of background, horizontal and vertical lines. Individual colors show how exciting and effective even the simplest elements can be.
