The Pavillon Le Corbusier in Zurich is a place I have returned to for many years. As the architect’s final building, and the only one built entirely in steel and glass, it holds a unique position in his oeuvre – a precise yet poetic structure, defined by colour, geometry and light. For me, it is a space of stillness and clarity, just a few steps away from my studio. The short film The Visitor was filmed on site in early 2025. It documents not only my physical movement through the Pavillon, but also my way of observing – how architecture, materiality and proportion resonate with my own practice as a designer. The film highlights the spatial rhythm of Le Corbusier’s architecture and how it invites reflection and presence. Filmmaker Joan Minder approached the project with a photographic eye and a strong sensitivity for atmosphere. The result is a quiet meditation on space, time and perception – and a thoughtful record of a personal connection to one of Zurichs most inspiring buildings. Thank you to Joan for this collaboration and congratulations on a beautiful and personal film.

The star designer is breaking new ground with his ArtCar. The top Swiss designer reveals what all this has to do with the weight of lightness. Whether watch, chair or car. Alfredo Häberli's credo is clear: to achieve as much as possible with as little as possible, be it through the chosen theme or through the material used, the lines drawn or the surfaces placed. This motto was also the focus when he artistically designed the 356SC for the Porsche Centre Zurich. In doing so, he added an ArtCar to his repertoire and at the same time realised one of his favourite projects. He shares his vision of a driving work of art with us.

Our relationship with the car is a complicated one: For decades, there were no limits to personal freedom and maximum mobility on the roads. But in times of climate change, everything has to be rethought and cars are increasingly being pushed out of congested cities.

Question for the designer: Why are cars getting bigger and bigger? Swiss-Argentinian Alfredo Häberli likes to drive stylish vehicles from earlier decades, but has primarily made a name for himself as a designer of furniture and crockery. As a child, he often spent time at a motor racing circuit, which is where his deep love of cars comes from. He also lives this out now and again as a designer. A conversation about the beauty of the car and the questionable trend towards ever larger and more bulky vehicles. Also: cities without cars and how the automobile has shaped architecture.
