«When I’m working on a new fabrics collection, there are two possible starting points for me: either the technology is given, or it isn’t. Sometimes, the manufacturer is already known but often, he isn’t. Irrespective of this, I delve into images of a possible interior architecture or of a product. Is it upholstered and to which degree? Is it organic or geometrical? Do any other materials play a role? Would they be used at a later point in time? What are my feelings with regard to this? What is my vision? Initially, it is a very varied interaction, a phase of exclusion, because I consider as many pictures, sources of inspiration, and intuitive ideas as possible. It is, however, important to not judge and to not evaluate or condemn. I then begin to collect, to choose and to comptemplate, by interpreting and comparing. Similarities and parallels will thus become clear and an idea will emerge, a colourway.»
