Alfredo Häberli Design Development

I was involved in the development of the new Salt Fiber Box right from the beginning and the cooperation with the technicians and engineers is exemplary for the successful implementation of a conceptional and formal vision. The basic design idea for the Salt Fiber Box was to design a simple design that would enable discrete integration into one's home in different orientations or positions. Vertical and horizontal, hung on the wall, placed between books or mounted under a sideboard. Either invisible or thanks to its aesthetics visible. The device consists of two outer shells that are shaped to give a floating impression. Between these shells, as many ventilation slots as possible are arranged circumferentially – a requirement that was clearly defined due to the high performance of the device. The ventilation slots are penetrated in the front part of two buttons and some LED lights and the side of two USB ports, which guarantee the technical extension. A deep bay on the back picks up the necessary cables and conceals the plugs, which helps to calm the appearance – and makes the device less technical. Every detail has its function and yet the form is kept simple. To round off the overall picture, the instruction-manual was personally drawn by myself as well as I have developed the necessary packaging. This consists exclusively of recyclable materials and can be easily reused for own purposes – this is a small but not insignificant added value.
